A collective exhibition that presents design as a process, rather than a final outcome.
INBETWEEN it´s a collective project of cultural management and intercultural mediation that interprets contemporary Ecuador through design and its creative process, integrating art, living cultures, and research, while connecting local territories, global debate, public institutions, and independent practices.
We are an interdisciplinary team working between Italy and Ecuador. We bring together curatorship, design, research, and cultural production to build shared projects based on dialogue, creative cross-pollination, and a clear goal: putting people at the center.
Active cultural manager based in Italy, primarily in Rome. For several years, she has worked in the organization and production of cultural events, with a focus on Ecuadorian visual art and the promotion of traditional craftsmanship.
Through the brand Giemme Montecristi, she develops projects dedicated to toquilla straw hats, transforming tradition into a contemporary cultural asset.
Personæ was born from the meeting of Monica Bambini and Lascia la Scia. We share a vision of design as a living cultural practice, shaped by hands, memory, and material.
For us, craftsmanship is not merely execution, but a cultural act: it generates identity, knowledge, and connection.
For the second consecutive year, Ecuador brings its design and contemporary arts to Milano Design Week. In the heart of Via Tortona, a journey that began in 2025 continues—sharing with the world the country’s cultural identity, shaped by tradition, creativity, and innovation.
Being part of such an important district as Via Tortona gives us greater visibility, also through its channels—both physical throughout the neighborhood and digital.
The selected artisans and designers are the winners of an open call launched in 2025, based on the following selection criteria:
– High-quality artisanal production
– Technical excellence and the valorization of traditions
– The central role of human craftsmanship and artisans
– The ability to reinterpret tradition through a contemporary lens
– Openness to experimentation and creative collaboration
A collective exhibition that presents design as a process, rather than a final outcome.
A critical reading of contemporary Ecuador, highlighting craftsmanship, local resources, and the dialogue between traditional knowledge and innovative practices.
Design is affirmed as a living discipline and a tool for cultural mediation, capable of addressing current issues such as the environment, women’s perspectives, and the cultural heritage of the territory.
At Milan Design Week, IN BETWEEN is presented as a space for dialogue between Ecuador and Europe: an international cooperation project grounded in research, shared experimentation, and the building of medium- and long-term relationships.
Meetings, talks, and workshops will also be held, fostering cultural and professional exchange with the public. From April 13 to 19, both the exhibition and its events will be open by invitation only. From April 20 to 26, the space will be open to the general public as part of Milan Design Week.
